Scenic Bushveld run set to be an annual winner

RUSTENBURG - Tom Cottrell author of the Old Mutual Runners
Guide, will be the guest athlete at the first ever Rustenburg
Spring marathon on September 20.
The marathon, from Buffelspoort dam to the Waterfall Mall in
Rustenburg, is marketed as a family weekend away in
celebration of the onset of Spring.
Cottrell will be using this as his South African leg to
accomplish his round the world challenge, and has fully
endorsed this marathon.
Tom started his running career over 15 years ago. He ran his
first marathon in 1985 and his first Comrades in 1986. He had
finished four Comrades Marathons when a tragic motorcar
accident killed his brother-in-law and left Tom struggling.
With many bones broken, he turned to another option, writing.
Read more about Cottrell’s latest dream his own web site,

route from the Buffelspoort dam to the Waterfall Mall. A
challenging and scenic run along the Magaliesburg mountain
range.
The route can accommodate a large number of runners and is set
to become an annual event. Future marathons will be secure
using this route.
A Fun Run around the Mall and into the adjacent beautiful
Rockcliff Estate is but one of the many fringe activities
taking place.
During the week leading up to the marathon a “Healthy Living –
Healthy Lifestyle” expo is also taking place in the center
court of the Mall. The Old Mutual Sports arena is also part of
the build up to the marathon. The sports arena will be
positioned at the Waterfall Mall on 12 and 13 September.
Both Omaramba and Buffelspoort, trusted family resorts in the
area, are guaranteed to provide further entertainment and
recreation for the whole family. Special accommodation
packages are available for athletes only. Booking contact
numbers are on the entry form.
Entry forms and more information is available on the
Rustenburg web site, rustenburg@mweb.co.za as well as

court of the Waterfall Mall.
